Dear brother,
Almost a month has passed since the start of the war in Ukraine, which is causing more terrible suffering to that battered population every day, threatening even world peace. The Church, in this dark hour, is strongly called to intercede with the Prince of Peace and to draw close to those who pay for the consequences of the conflict on their own skin. In this sense, I am grateful to all those who are responding with great generosity to my appeals to prayer, fasting and charity.
Now, also accepting numerous requests from the People of God, I wish to entrust the nations in conflict in a special way to Our Lady. As I said yesterday at the end of the Angelus prayer（中文见以下） , on March 25, the Solemnity of the Annunciation, I intend to perform a solemn act of consecration of humanity, especially Russia and Ukraine, to the Immaculate Heart of Mary. Since it is good to be ready to invoke peace renewed by God's forgiveness, it will take place in the context of a Celebration of Penance , which will take place in St. Peter's Basilica at 5 pm, Rome time. The Act of consecration is expected around 6.30 pm.
It is intended to be a gesture of the universal Church, which in this dramatic moment brings to God, through her Mother and ours, the cry of pain of those who suffer and implore an end to violence, and entrusts the future of humanity to the Queen of Peace. . I therefore invite you to join this Act, summoning, on Friday 25 March, priests, religious and other faithful to community prayer in sacred places, so that the holy People of God raise the plea in a unanimous and heartfelt way. to his Mother. In this regard, I transmit to you the text of the special consecration prayer , so that you can recite it, along that day, in fraternal union.
